Section
Cocoa
Ghana’s cocoa sector and the global cocoa trade: prices, policy, finance and the firms that move the crop.
Conventions used in this section. Ghana’s cocoa bag is 62.5 kg net, so 16 bags make a tonne; per-bag prices are converted at exactly 16. Crop years run from 1 October to 30 September, the International Cocoa Organization’s convention, unless a piece says otherwise. Ghana’s own marketing year runs from 1 September to 31 August from 2026/27.
